The Town of Milton offers a variety of drop-in skating and hockey programs. Whether you are interested in public skating, shinny or Stick 'N Puck, we have something for everyone. The Community Services Department has the right to modify the skate and hockey program schedule by season based on attendance or ice/patroller availability.

Drop-in skating

Drop-in skating is available at the Milton Sports Centre and Sherwood Community Centre.

  • Please note that the Town of Milton does not directly offer skate rentals or skate sharpening services. It is recommended to arrive with skates or make equipment arrangements prior to arriving to the facility.

Memberships and passes

You can pay-per-visit or buy the 10-visit or annual pass. 10-visit and annual passes are valid for drop-in skating, fitness and swimming. Visit a customer service desk to buy your pass or purchase it online.
All prices include HST. Annual passes and 10-visit passes expire one year from the date of purchase.

Program guidelines

Ice skating

  • Family skate is unsupervised

  • Skate aids must remain in designated area at public skate
  • Parent/guardians accompanying children (12 years and under) must be 18 years of age or older and remain in program area supervising throughout the skate

  • Adult to child (12 years and under) ratio must not exceed 1:4

  • Not permitted on the ice: boots or shoes, use of handheld mobile devices and food or beverage other than water

  • CSA-approved helmets are highly recommended, with chinstraps fastened

Roller skating

  • Roller skates, inline skates and shoes are permitted
  • Parent/guardians accompanying children (12 years and under) must be 18 years of age or older and remain in program area supervising throughout the skate
  • Adult to child (12 years and under) ratio must not exceed 1:4
  • CSA-approved helmets are highly recommended, with chinstraps fastened

Cancellations

To cancel a program you have registered for, please log into your account or email Recreation staff.

Rules and regulations (Stick 'N Puck) 

  • Full equipment is recommended
  • CSA-approved helmets (with full-face mask and hockey gloves for child and youth participants) are required and you must fasten your chinstrap
  • Body contact, organized game play, slap shots and practice tools (e.g. pylons) are not permitted
  • There is 20 skater maximum for all programs
  • For programs for children 12 years and under, the adult to participant ratio is 1:2
  • Coaching is not permitted during the designated family sessions
  • Parent/guardians accompanying children (12 years and under) must be 18 years of age or older and must remain in program area in the arena if not on the ice

Rules and regulations (Shinny)

  • Full equipment is required
  • CSA approved helmets are required for all participants. Participants under the age of 18 must wear full face-masks
  • Body contact and slap shots are not permitted
  • Goalies (two maximum) play for free and can register under 'Shinny - Goalie'
  • Parents/guardians accompanying children (12 years and under) must be 18 years of age or older and must remain in the program area
  • It is the expectation that participants adhere to the program guidelines outlined on the pre-registration booking page and Participant Code of Behaviour page

Neighbourhood outdoor ice rinks

Milton’s neighbourhood outdoor rinks are a collaborative effort between residents and the Town of Milton.

They provide a community building opportunity where neighbours work together to build and operate an ice rink at a community park for all residents to enjoy, free of charge.

The Town will provide support for up to four neighbourhood outdoor ice rinks for the 2023-2024 season.
