The Commissioner of Oaths is able to administer oaths and witness signatures for certain affidavits and documents.  Milton’s Legislative and Legal Services Division provides the services of a Commissioner of Oaths (also known as a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits).

This service is available to residents and businesses in-person Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Fees

Review our fees for commissioning affidavits and documents:

  • $35 for 1-5 pages
  • $56 for 6-10 pages
  • $81 for 11-20 pages
  • $97 for 21 pages or more

Methods of payment

Accepted methods of payment include cash, cheque or debit. Credit card is not accepted for this service.

Signing requirements

You must provide government issued photo identification with a signature, such as a driver’s licence or passport to sign an affidavit in the presence of the Commissioner of Oaths.

If your document requires the signature of a notary, or you require certified copies of documents, then you will need to contact a lawyer or a notary.
